Leadership skills are highly desirable in every organization, but they are not the same as five or ten years ago. Today’s leaders need to be adaptable and ready for change. In the past, the main qualities of a good leader used to be the efficient allocation of responsibilities and task control, but today’s leaders are increasingly expected to be "drivers of transformation."
Being such a leader means empowering employees to find solutions, encouraging personal and professional growth, and creating an environment that supports continuous learning. Instead of providing ready-made answers, a leader asks questions that inspire employees to discover their full potential and achieve their goals.
Why is this leadership style important for organizations?
Solving business challenges
Teams adapt more easily to new situations in a changing and dynamic business environment when they have leaders who are drivers of transformation. By developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills in employees, leaders ensure their teams are prepared for any challenge.
Innovation
By creating an environment where new ideas are valued, leaders encourage their employees to think outside the box.
Employee engagement
When employees feel supported and valued, they are more motivated and dedicated to their work. By mentoring and offering support while trusting employees to arrive at solutions independently, a leader demonstrates respect and builds employees’ confidence and independence.
Reconciling business demands and team leadership is becoming increasingly challenging, and the SELECTIO Leadership Academy directly addresses the challenges faced by today’s organizations and leaders. The SELECTIO Leadership Academy offers leaders a comprehensive and tailored program that helps them develop precisely these skills.
One of the critical advantages of this program is the application of a coaching approach in group work. This means that the trainer, through exercises and discussions, gradually guides the group towards independent problem-solving. By asking questions, the trainer helps participants first become aware of, and then change, ingrained patterns of perception or behaviour. This method is applied throughout the program, and with each new module, participants are increasingly encouraged to use and practice the coaching approach with each other and become more independent. The skills learned using the snowball method are then passed on to their teams.
The program also includes individual coaching sessions that help further solidify new skills.
Coaching is one of the most significant tools offering personalized development opportunities. It enables managers to identify specific challenges they face in the daily management of themselves and others. Therefore, participants in the SELECTIO Leadership Academy work on specific challenges they encounter daily through individual coaching sessions. Expert feedback and support from the trainers help them refine their coaching skills, and the entire program is additionally supported by an e-learning platform.
Each participant undergoes a 360° assessment, providing a deeper insight into their strengths and areas for development. Additionally, the program includes tools such as Points of You®, Belbin Team Roles®, and Four Rooms of Change®, which help leaders better understand their teams, manage team dynamics, and foster collaboration and innovation.
What is taught at the SELECTIO Leadership Academy?
Leading yourself to lead others
Self-awareness is the foundation of leadership. Participants will first learn to recognize their strengths and weaknesses and then adopt strategies to remain authentic. They create a personal development plan for their leadership skills, which they work on throughout the program.
Understanding and leading change
Participants learn to lead through change, motivate teams during uncertain times, and create a corporate culture that embraces change.
Goal setting and motivation
Clearly defined goals inspire motivation. This module helps participants set goals that inspire teams and lead to success.
Managing emotions and stress
Developing emotional intelligence is crucial for recognizing and managing emotions in oneself and others, resulting in a better team atmosphere.
Team dynamics and roles
With the help of the Belbin Team Roles®, leaders learn how to identify which of the 9 Belbin team roles their team members belong to. This helps them correctly identify the strengths of each member and achieve maximum effectiveness for both individuals and teams.
Relationship and communication management
Effective communication skills and conflict prevention are key to creating harmonious working relationships. Leaders learn how to manage team communication effectively and address the challenges posed by communication noise.
Time and self-management
Participants learn to set priorities, delegate effectively, and manage their time to achieve good results.
Diversity management
Diversity in a team can be a strength if managed correctly. To ensure the team works together towards the same goal, the leader needs to recognize and leverage the different talents and skills of all members.
Feedback as a tool for motivation
Constructive feedback should motivate team members and guide them towards development and improvement.
Employee development
Leaders must learn how to recognize the potential of their employees and help them develop the skills that come with taking on greater responsibilities.
Applying coaching skills
Coaching is one of the most powerful tools for development—for leaders, future leaders, and their teams. For managers and leaders, it is essential to properly develop coaching skills to empower their teams, allow team members greater independent development, and encourage them to take on (greater) responsibilities.
Final workshop and action plan
A personalized action plan created by each participant at the end of the program helps lay the foundation for further development of key competencies. Continuous skill improvement is what every true leader should strive for.
